DAVID SHELDRICK TRUST: NAIROBI

DAVID SHELDRICK TRUST: NAIROBI

The public morning show commences at 1100hrs and It’s always wise to be there at least 30mins before the gates open to avoid last minute crowds especially over the weekend.

The hour show lets you in on all you need to know about David Sheldrick trust.  That includes how one can adopt an elephant calf orphan. By adopting one of these calves, one becomes one of many foster parents.

During the mud bath – orphans get to cool themselves by literally playing in the mud!

One is advised to wear less bright colors to avoid muddy spots that are inevitable, that is if mud spots aren’t your thing!

Other than playful show, visitors get to learn how the elephant calves ended up at the sanctuary, as well as their reintegration journey.

Often the elephant calves arrive at the facility weak, injured or both. Once received, they are assigned to caregivers who act at surrogates.

This helps them adjust from the past life of pain and loss; elephants have institutional memory and they remember it all. So tender loving care is needed to help these otherwise traumatize calves heal and live their normal life once they grow up.

It’s a long enduring journey to reintegration that requires financial support to succeed.

kudos to the selfless caregivers all over, who ensure these orphans have a second chance as well-wishers who in one way or the other aide these goals to be achieved, kudos to you too.

Your support is highly needed for this succeed.

David Sheldrick trust has several properties that foster parents can visist as they keeptabs with their orphans. These properties are selfcatering. If you are planning to pay a visit to one of them, it’s good to talk to your preferred agent so that they can inquire for you the availability of these properties. Why? Because they can only hold one group at time and also for logistic purpose. The agent helps you in planning for your meals and these food stuff need to be bought earlier and transported there. In all their properties, they have stay in chefs and waiters at your disposal. If you prefer to cook for yourselves, it possible. Personally, I would advise you to make use of them. They will really surprise you.
